Exhibit Change Jammers!

Meet our wonderful team of Jammers! These are the people that are making this all possible.

Andrea Yip, Event Lead

Andrea is a health promoter, aspiring documentary filmmaker, and scientist at heart. She is interested in applying a designer’s lens in addressing social problems in order to promote better health and wellbeing for our communities. Andrea is particularly interested in using multimedia and the arts — including photography, social media, and film — to understand and tell stories around health issues. In her spare time, she enjoys good documentaries, dog walking, and eating strawberry jam.

Why I love maple jelly: a surprisingly unusual combination for such household names as maple and jelly but together they become a confectionery sensation built on a foundation of the conventional. A tasty reminder that innovation is not just about making new ideas but renewing assumptions about the old ideas. I am passionate about city building initiatives and is interested in exploring how to build stronger neighbourhoods by overlapping the worlds of arts & culture with sustainable urbanism.

Emily Atherton, Media Co-Lead

Ok sure I’ve worked on events like Pride Toronto, the Banff World Media Festival and Ryerson’s Orientation, but even more important is my favorite jam: Red Pepper Jelly.  Red Pepper Jelly is versatility in a jar.  I swear it’s delicious on everything; drizzled on vanilla ice cream, baked with chicken, fried in an omelet, mixed in with angel hair pasta, and best of all spread on Le Sauvagine triple cream brie and a gluten free cracker!  My goal is to one day be as versatile as my favorite jam.

Ginny Li, Volunteer Co-Lead

Hi, I’m Ginny.  I love to eat, travel, and eat new foods while I travel.  I also love to learn new things, hear about people’s viewpoints and experiences and try to understand things from different points of view.  I believe that you can never learn too much or care too much.

Vinay Kumar Mysore, Media Co-Lead

This will be the first jam Vinay relishes (excluding his home town commitment to Saskatoon Berry jam… obvi). Asides from Saskatoon, he also calls Montreal a hometown, where at McGill he kept it real and studied philosophy. A new face to Toronto, Vinay is excited about change; exhibit-ing it, having enough for laundry, and shaking up any status quo. He dislikes bad puns, unnecessary Latin phrases, and hypocrites. Make sure to say hi to him!

Mojan Jianfar, Programming & Operations

Did you love grilled cheese sandwiches as a child? The delicious, gooey, simple goodness? Now imagine using blue cheese instead and then adding some fig jam to it! Yes…it IS amazing! That’s innovation! That’s taking something great and adding a dash of creativity and turning into something wonderful! That’s my fig jam and that’s my passion for Global Service Jam – a gathering of the minds to work together and design services that reflect our current realities. The use of design thinking for service design is like adding some fig jam to a grilled cheese sandwich. Simply amazing.

Jennifer Chan, Partnerships & Content

Oh jam! How I love thee. You are so versatile, you are sweet, you are savoury, you are unique and you are homey. You can be anything you want to be, chunky, jiggly, tart, fruity, rich or light. You are also so stylish in your sleek jars and pretty labels – you are so inspiring. The design of jam is so intriguing and it completely motivates me to bring ideas together to discover new combinations. Come jam with us and tell us what your favourite jam arouses in you.
