We like to incubate new ideas. Not all these ideas last forever or even see the light of day. But it is what keeps our energy high and our thinking caps running. Right now we are incubating 3 extremely dynamic projects that are each super exciting. These are ideas that we hold deeply yet lightly. We imagine them each reaching a place where they can can sustain themselves until then we are having lots of fun getting them up and running.
The Department of Imaginary Affairs
The Department of Imaginary Affairs is a citizen-building design lab. We are reimagining more playful and youthful approaches to public services through storytelling and artifact making. Currently we are working on re-imagining adult ESL libraries and taking our Giant Storybook on a roadshow. We are inspired by the many city-building design labs around the world.
School 2080
School 2080 is an education innovation time machine, looking at the future of education, now. We believe the next generation of creative problem solvers addressing the future of education will be enabled by human-centred design, storytelling of the future, and new models of professional development. Currently we are experimenting with different ways to connect and convene education innovators.
Future Happens Here is a play-based facilitation tool promoting storytelling and empathy building in complex systems. Future Happens Here enables stakeholders to collaboratively build a story world. We believe if stakeholders work together to understand complex issues, they can overcome their individual agendas and develop a shared action-based strategy. Currently we are refining the play mechanics of the tool and looking for Future Of partners.
